What the number means

This Facebook ad cost calculator turns a budget into results with three rates: CPM (what 1,000 impressions cost), CTR (the share of viewers who click) and conversion rate (the share of clickers who buy). Impressions = budget ÷ CPM × 1,000; clicks = impressions × CTR; sales = clicks × conversion rate.

At the 2026 median for fashion stores selling orders under $50 (CPM $6.67, CTR 1.57%, conversion rate 2.18%), $1,000 buys about 150,000 impressions, 2,350 clicks and 51 sales. Your own rates from Ads Manager will always be more accurate than a median.

How much do Facebook ads cost in 2026?

There is no fixed price: Facebook and Instagram ads are sold in an auction, so you set a budget and the price of each impression moves with your audience, your creative and the competition. What you can measure is the price of 1,000 impressions (CPM), of a click (CPC) and of a sale (CPA).

Lebesgue's 2026 benchmarks put the median CPM between $6.33 and $21.67 depending on the industry and the order value, and the median cost per click between $0.36 and $1.40. The table above turns those medians into what $1,000 buys for stores selling orders under $50.

Instagram ad cost

Instagram ads are bought in the same Meta Ads Manager auction as Facebook ads, and a campaign can run on both with automatic placements. Use this calculator for Instagram too: enter the CPM, CTR and conversion rate you see for your Instagram placements, or start from the median for your industry.

Costs differ by placement, so if you run Reels or Stories only, check their rates separately in Ads Manager before you plan a budget.

How to set a Facebook ad budget

Work backwards from the sales you need. Switch the calculator to “What budget do I need?”, enter the number of sales, and it gives the budget at your rates. Then check that budget against your break-even CPA: if the cost per sale is higher than what you keep from an order, the plan loses money before it starts.

Start small, measure your real CPM, CTR and conversion rate for a week, then replace the median values with yours and plan the next budget on them.

Ad impression calculator

Impressions = budget ÷ CPM × 1,000. At a CPM of $8, a $20 daily budget buys about 2,500 impressions a day, or 75,000 over 30 days. Impressions count every time your ad is shown, so the same person can see it several times.

Reach, the number of different people, is never higher than impressions, and usually lower; Ads Manager shows both, and their ratio is the frequency.

From ad cost to ad spend ROI

Add your average order value and the calculator also estimates revenue and ROAS. ROAS is revenue divided by ad spend; whether it is profitable depends on your margin. Compare it with your break-even ROAS in the ROAS calculator before you scale a budget.

The ad cost calculator, both ways

Facebook ad cost calculator example: $600 at fashion medians buys about 31 sales
$20 a day for 30 days at the 2026 median rates for fashion stores (orders under $50): about 90,000 impressions, 1,400 clicks and 31 sales.
Instagram ad cost calculator: budget needed for 50 sales at the same median rates
The same rates in reverse: 50 sales need a budget of about $974, or 146,000 impressions and 2,300 clicks.
